Ben White
I am a writer and freelance journalist specialising in Palestine/Israel. I also write on the broader Middle East, the ‘war on terror’, Christian-Muslim relations, and a Christian theology of social justice.
My articles have appeared in a variety of international publications, including the Guardian online’s ‘Comment is free’, the New Statesman, Electronic Intifada, Palestine Chronicle, Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Middle East International, Church Times, Church of England Newspaper, Third Way, The Muslim Weekly, and Palestine-Israel Journal.
I have been visiting Palestine/Israel since 2003 for periods of between two weeks and three months, typically basing myself in the Bethlehem district of the West Bank.
I have given talks on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in King’s College, Cambridge; Churchill College, Cambridge (Phoenix Society); Nottingham University; All Nation’s College (UK); St John’s Theological College (UK), and other churches and community centres in the UK and USA.
I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature in 2005. My final year dissertation was a comparative study of the representation of dispossession in the contemporary literature of Palestinians and Native Americans.
My first book, ‘Israeli Apartheid: A Beginner’s Guide’ (Pluto Press), will be published in June (UK) and August (USA) this year. It is available for pre-order on Amazon UK and USA and there is also a Facebook group for those wanting to show support and keep updated.
